7 Habits That Supported My Wellness Journey
I practiced naturopathic medicine for 18 years before I became the patient. I know what the research says, I know what the guidelines recommend — and I still found myself in a place where my energy, my weight, and my overall wellbeing weren't where I wanted them to be.
That experience changed how I counsel my patients. Here are the seven habits that made the most meaningful difference in my own wellness journey — and that I now share with people who are exploring natural approaches.
Starting the day with a substantial protein source within 45 minutes of waking stabilized my energy throughout the day and reduced afternoon cravings significantly. Simple shift, meaningful results.
The body's ability to process and use nutrients is higher earlier in the day. Shifting the largest meal to lunch and keeping dinner lighter improved how I felt by morning — without eating less overall.
One of the more interesting areas of recent research is the connection between internal body temperature and metabolic function. When temperature is below optimal, many of the body's natural processes slow down. I added LipoVive to my daily routine — a natural formula with 6 warming nutrients and plants designed to support this process. Within a few weeks I noticed more consistent energy and a meaningful change in how my body was responding. It's now the first supplement I recommend to patients exploring natural metabolic support.

Switching from forced early morning exercise to a relaxed 20-minute walk after dinner improved my sleep, my digestion, and — crucially — my consistency. I actually looked forward to it, which made all the difference.
Poor sleep disrupts the hormones that regulate appetite and energy. I set a firm 10:30 PM boundary and eliminated screens for the final hour. The downstream effects on how I felt during the day were significant and appeared within about two weeks.
Chronic stress elevates cortisol, which directly affects how the body stores and uses energy. "Reduce stress" is too vague to act on. I identified three specific daily stressors and changed one concrete thing about each. This approach is something I now use regularly with patients.
Tracking a single daily metric creates unnecessary anxiety and misses most of the picture. I started monitoring energy levels, sleep quality, and mood alongside everything else. Tracking multiple indicators kept me motivated and gave me a more accurate view of what was actually working.
The Honest Summary
None of these habits require giving up things you enjoy or adopting an extreme protocol. What they require is consistency and a willingness to support the body's foundational processes — not just manage inputs.
If you've been approaching wellness thoughtfully and still not feeling the results you'd like, it may be worth looking beyond the surface level. That's where the most meaningful change tends to happen.
